ActivitiesThe Seeto Kui (Holdings) Limited company is one of the major wholesalers and distributors in Papua New Guinea and is also perceived to be the largest independent trader in the country. During the early part of 1996 the Directors resolved to change the culture of the company to achieve a Customer Service Focus. It is believed that although this change in culture will take some time to achieve, it will nevertheless enable the company to continue its successful expansion while challenging the market competition. The grocery and general merchandise division hold an enviable portfolio of agencies including internationally recognized brands such as King Brands, Kraft, Eveready, Energizer, Gillette, Gipo, San Miguel, Capilano-Honey and Dunlop-Footwear. With major warehouse facilities in both Port Moresby and Lae, distribution is effected to all parts of the country with the highest priority given to servicing the extensive customer base of re-sellers and end users. These activities have expanded significantly over the last five years and it is envisaged that this trend will continue. The hardware and plumbing supplies divisions have enjoyed growth in excess of the market average and this will be further enhanced with the relocation and planned expansion and development of the Port Moresby plumbing supplies branch. The in-house Bilda brand of hardware products has been developed over the last two years and an extensive chain of re-sellers has been appointed to further penetrate the market. Additionally, this division has diversified into the Kit Home market. The stationery and furniture supplies division has enjoyed excellent growth since establishment with a retail outlet in Lae. The company has achieved consistent growth and profitability over recent years and this has been achieved through a combination of aggressive marketing strategies and a policy of reinvestment. It is seen that the Group's ability to react to market forces and to maintain liquidity through re-investment has helped to maintain a significant advantage over its competitors. A continuity and stability in senior management coupled with an understanding of the Papua New Guinea culture has strengthened this advantage. |
